      Clinton County is a county located in the central part of the state of Illinois.       38.61° N 89.42° W
As of 2006, the population was 36,633
 
      Clinton County was organized in 1824 out of Washington, Fayette, and Bond Counties. It i s named in honor of the seventh Governor of New York State, DeWitt Clinton, who helped build the Erie Canal.
 
      Clinton County has fifteen townships :
            Breese, Brookside, Carlyle, Clement, East Fork, Germantown, Irishtown, Lake, Looking Glass, Meridian, Saint Rose, Santa Fe, Sugar Creek, Wade, Wheatfield
