Asbestos Exposure & Mesothelioma
|
Mesothelioma information:
the Mesothelioma and Asbestos Awareness Center provides important information about asbestos exposure and mesothelioma cancer. Over
35 million residences and other buildings in our country contain high levels of asbestos within attic insulation, drywall, plaster, and floor or ceiling
tiles, and if these materials are disturbed or damaged, asbestos fibers can be released into the air, putting individuals present at risk of inhalation.
The majority of
mesothelioma cancer sufferers were exposed to asbestos while at work, with firefighters and construction workers among the group
of workers at the highest risk of exposure. Navy veterans who served during the WWII era are also at an increased risk of developing asbestos
diseases, as WWII naval ships were laden with asbestos. It is important for all people to understand how to protect themselves from the dangers
of asbestos exposure.
