to the coal mining industry that provided the livelihood for
this geographical area of Illinois the following photos have
been graciously furnished by :

The coal mine at Eagerville was sunk during 1901 and was commonly known as # 1.   The photographs here show some of the housing that the mine company built for the miners and their families to live in.   These homes were demolished during the mid 1990's.
